Chico MacMurtrie’s Robotic Church
Yesterday I went to see Chico MacMurtrie’s Robotic Church in Red Hook — easily the coolest performance I’ve seen in NYC.
MacMurtrie built and programmed dozens of robots to play music — drums, a giant xylophone and some even played themselves (string instruments). Some of the robots moved and grunted and screamed like chimps, it was wild (and kind of scary!) It was so loud and chaotic and made my heart race. Didn’t help that the monkeybots, set to go down the aisle, nearly fell on me after running into each other.
If you’re interested, here’s more info about Robotic Church from the NYT, and more of my photos on Tumblr. Super fun. Go see it!
